The Los Angeles Lakers are struggling, but Malik Monk sure isn't. He's actually having the best year of his career. Playing alongside LeBron James and former Wildcat Anthony Davis, the three of them have created quite the trio out on the West Coast.
Malik Monk is averaging career-highs in points, rebounds, steals, assists, blocks, minutes and is having his the best shooting season of his career at 47% from the field. He has found a system that highlights his style of play, earned himself a starting spot, and is making a 'professional name' for himself in one of the league's brightest cities.
LeBron James seems to be enjoying playing alongside him this season too.
He also told Lakers Nation reporter, Ryan Ward, that Malik is "taking full advantage of his opportunity... He brings a knockout punch." Head Coach, Frank Vogel, also said that Monk has been "one of our most reliable offensive players."
Malik Monk seems to be enjoying every second of it.
It seems the Lepanto, Arkanas native is finding the success we all thought he would have in the NBA and I couldn't be more happier for him. If the Lakers could get Russell Westbrook's game tuned back in, keep Anthony Davis healthy and prolong LeBron's postseason run, they could have an exciting few weeks come playoff time.
