Marques Cox Commits To Kentucky!
A massive piece of the "Big Blue Wall" was added today, as the Kentucky Wildcats picked up another commitment from Northern Illinois University transfer Marques Cox. Cox is a 6'6" and 310 pound offensive lineman from Peoria, Illinois. This season, Cox was a redshirt Junior, meaning he still has two years of eligibility left to play with Kentucky. This is a massive get for the Wildcats, as they needed someone at the Left Tackle position to replace Kenneth Horsey.
At the beginning of the 2022 season, Cox had 29 consecutive starts at the left tackle position, dating all the way back to the Huskie's game against Vanderbilt in 2019. Cox only played in four games in 2022 and those were against Eastern Illinois, Tulsa, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. In that game, Cox looked excellent against the Wildcats.
Cox was a part of the 2018 Class and was listed as a 3-star prospect and the 109th best offensive tackle in the nation, as well as the 32nd best player in the entire state of Illinois for that year.
Kentucky really hit a home run today with the commitment from Cox. They needed to hit the transfer portal hard this off-season, especially in regard to the offensive line. While there is a lot more work to be done, this is a good start for rebuilding the "Big Blue Wall" which is the name the late John Schlarman gave the Wildcats' offensive line.
