Marquise Davis Recruiting Update

Just yesterday Kentucky got an update on another potential recruiting target for the class of 2025 in Ohio star Bo Jackson. The talented five-star running back had cut his list of schools down to twelve and Kentucky made the cut out of those. Fast forward to today, it is clear that Kentucky is not putting all of their eggs in one basket in regards to running backs in the class.

This football staff is also heavily recruiting Marquise Davis, whom is also a highly talented running back out of Cleveland, Ohio. Davis is currently in his senior year at Cleveland Heights High School where he has played running back on offense and safety/linebacker on defense during his sophomore and junior years. The now Kentucky target completed his junior year with 2,228 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns while also making 63 tackles (five for a loss) with a sack, 3 interceptions and 4 pass breakups on defense.

Today, Marquise Davis announced his decision to cut his recruitment list down to a final ten schools and Kentucky found themselves amongst those remaining.

The other nine schools include Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Florida, Tennessee, USC, Missouri, West Virginia, and Texas A&M. Both Bo Jackson's and Marquise Davis' recruiting profiles look very similar as there appears to be a disconnect from the top-four schools with those including Ohio State, Michigan, Kentucky, and Penn State in both cases.

Now, I could be extremely wrong on this, but in my opinion I don't believe that Ohio State manages to land both Jackson and Davis in their signing class, so what does this mean for Kentucky? I think if you asked me today I believe that Ohio State has their choice of whichever talented running back they want between the two, and after that I think it will be a close recruiting race amongst the other three schools to secure the one that is left. If that means Marquise Davis for Kentucky this would still be an unbelievable get for Vince Marrow and company because both of them can play. Davis is a top-175 prospect, the thirteenth-best running back in the country, and is ranked as a four-star amongst the recruiting sites. He has many accolades that he would be bringing with him as he enters the next level of his game.

It will be something to keep an eye on in the coming months especially with Davis taking his official visit to Kentucky, which is scheduled for June 14th. Let's hope Kentucky keeps making the future cuts.
