Men's Basketball SEC Schedule Released
It is football season! But it is never too early to get excited about a Kentucky Basketball team with national championship potential. While you make your plans to watch Kentucky take on Florida in 'The Swamp' this weekend, we can finally start making plans for the hoops season, as the Men's Basketball team officially released their 2022-23 conference schedule.
Kentucky opens up the conference slate at Mizzou on December 28, with LSU coming to Lexington for their SEC home opener on January 3. However, Kentucky's two biggest games during that opening stretch may still be from their non-conference schedule. Kenny Payne has his homecoming, as the instate rival Louisville Cardinals head east on New Years Eve. Next, the defending champion Kansas Jayhawks look to get their revenge on January 28, after the Cats blew them out in Allen Fieldhouse last year.
However, in February, the conference schedule really begins to pick up. One of the biggest complaints last season was that, of Kentucky's top 3 challengers in the SEC - Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas, only Tennessee came into Rupp Arena, while Kentucky had to travel to all three of their arenas. Next February, all three will travel into Lexington: Arkansas on the 7th, Tennessee on the 18th, and Auburn on the 25.
There have been many complaints, and rightfully so, about Kentucky's home schedule over the past few years. However, with top rivals coming to town and a loaded SEC schedule, season ticket holders should get their money's worth this season.
