Oscar Tshibewe Named Preseason AP All-American

You read the headline: Oscar Tshibewe Named Preseason AP All-American.

At this point, I don't think this is very shocking news to anyone. The National Player of the Year returns to college for another season and racks up all the preseason awards for the trophies he won just seven months ago. Who would've thought? While not surprising at all, I do still believe it is very deserved and he is a prime candidate to win these awards in back-to-back seasons. And, it looks like the Associated Press believes so too.

Oscar Tshiebwe joins a notable list in Drew Timme (Gonzaga), Armando Bacot (North Carolina), Marcus Sasser (Houston), and Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana) in the preseason AP All-American voting.

Since the summer approached its final days, Oscar has now been tabbed as the

  • SEC Preseason POTY

  • CBS Sports Preseason All-American

  • AP Preseason All-American (unanimous)

The last AP Player of the Year award winner to return to college basketball (Tshiebwe won in 2021) was Tyler Hansbrough (UNC) in 2009. That team cut down the nets that year - Oscar looks to do the same with his team.
