Player Profiles: Tanner LeMaster
When Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow want a big tight end, who is a good blocker and a capable pass catcher, they typically head north and take one from the state of Ohio. This recruiting class was no different. Tanner LeMaster is a 6'6", 240 pound tight end from Washington High School in Washington Court House, Ohio. He is consensus 3-star recruit in the class of 2022 and was the 28th best tight end in the class.
Lemaster fits the mold of previous Wildcat tight ends from Ohio, with his size and style of play resembling that of CJ Conrad and Justin Rigg. LeMaster plays physical football, with good blocking technique in the run game. He is also a very competent pass catcher, catching 62 passes for 749 yards and 15 touchdowns at Washington High School, with 40 receptions for 540 yards and 12 touchdowns in his senior year.
He is the prototypical player that Vince Marrow likes in his tight end room physically, as well as mentally. LeMaster made the All Ohio Academic Team as a senior. He will join fellow Ohio native Josh Kattus in the tight end room, as well as Jordan and Justin Dingle, Brendan Bates and Izayah Cummings. That level of depth will prevent LeMaster from being forced into early action and will allow him to acclimate to the college level. LeMaster will get a head start on that acclimation by reportedly enrolling early for the spring semester.
