Head Coach, Mark Stoops, and the rest of the coaching staff are hitting the recruiting trail hard and heavy. Kentucky picked up another big time recruit today in 3-Star recruit, Quentel Jones from Fort Valley, Georgia. Jones, a 6'2" 315 pound Defensive Tackle, was recruited by former linebackers coach Jon Summerall (who was recently hired by Troy University as their new Head Coach) and Defensive Coordinator, Brad White. Jones is the 59th ranked Defensive Lineman in the nation and the 36th best defensive lineman the state of Georgia according to 247Sports.com. Jones had several highly touted schools to choose from, those include: Arkansas, Auburn, Miami, Mississippi State, Oregon, Tennessee, and many others.
Jones must have fallen in love with Lexington fairly quickly considering his official visit was less than a week ago on December 3rd. Jones is the 18th commitment for the Wildcats in their 2022 class, however he is the first player recruited at the DT position and only the second Defensive Lineman beside Tomiwa Durojaiye. With this pick up the Cats' recruiting class is now ranked 14th overall for 2022 according to 247Sports.com. Yes Jones is the latest piece of the puzzle but it more than likely will not be the last because according to Stoops: "we're big game hunting".
