Rupp Arena Is Going Cashless Starting In March

Times are changing and places are evolving. Rupp Arena at the Central Bank Center has announced that they will no longer be accepting cash payments for concessions and parking starting on March 4th of this calendar year.

The Central Bank Center's Twitter account posted the news this afternoon that the iconic downtown Lexington venue will be going cashless in just barely over a week from now.

"Acceptable forms of payment include all major credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa) and mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay)," said the press release. It continued with, "Cashless payments will go into effect beginning March 4 at Rupp Arena. Cash will continue to be accepted at the various Central Bank Center Box Offices and at artist merchandise stands."

If you have already bought tickets to an event coming soon, and are worried about your parking situation, the release also said, "Those who’ve already purchased tickets to upcoming events will have the opportunity to add parking to their experience as a separate purchase. There are limited spaces available."

Prepaid parking at the High Street Parking Lot will also be available through Ticketmaster.com for most events.

I look for consumers to continue seeing this in more places as the years pass by. With everything becoming so digital and traceable through online methods, I honestly understand why they're doing this. Put your cash in the bank and keep your hands clean, because cash is slowly on its way out.
