Stone Saunders Commits to Kentucky
We have a newcomer to the already impressive lineage of quarterbacks under Liam Coen. Will Levis, Devin Leary, Cutter Boley, and now 2025 prospect, Stone Saunders are all top tier quarterback prospects that have committed to Kentucky under Coen's direction.
The newest Wildcat commit in Saunders is rated as a 4-star quarterback by ESPN and Rivals. Saunders becomes another commit out of the Northeast, a region that Kentucky has started to infiltrate over the past few years. Saunders is coming off an impressive sophomore season that opened the nation's eyes to his potential. He passed for over 3,500 yards while throwing 54 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. Kentucky best out SEC East foe, Georgia, for Saunders' talents.
With Saunders now in the fold moving forward, will Kentucky start a quarterback that is not a transfer (excluding Lynn Bowden) for the first time since 2016? Once Leary is gone, there's a decent chance at at it. Destin Wade will be a redshirt sophomore next season with starting experience and knowledge of the system. You will have Cutter Boley joining the team as a highly touted freshman in 2024, followed by Saunders in 2025. My guess would be to anticipate another transfer portal quarterback to start next year, but the battle between day one Wildcats will get the nod in two years.
