National Signing Day continues to be good to Kentucky. First, Kentucky started the day by getting all 15 of their verbal commits to sign their National Letter of Intent, avoiding any flips away from the Wildcats. Soon after, Kentucky got a flip of their own, landing a commitment from Jayvant Brown, a former Michigan State commit and four star linebacker. Now, Kentucky flips another recruit, this time from Florida State, landing Tavion Gadson, a three star defensive end.
Gadson is a Georgia product and ranks as the 83rd player in his recruiting class from his state according to Rivals. The three star recruit stands in at 6'5" 265 pounds, and combines that large frame with great pursuit and tackling, while defending against the run. Gadson will join fellow three star commit Tommy Ziesmer on the defensive line to hopefully develop into successful pass rushers, a big area of deficit for the Cats ever since Josh Allen was selected 7th overall in the 2019 draft.
After a very slow start to the recruiting class, Kentucky is now up to 17 commits and the 35th overall ranked class, not including a very impressive haul from the transfer portal as well. However, the job is not finished for Mark Stoops and company yet. Jamarion Wilcox is Kentucky's top and only target at the running back position in the 2023 recruiting class, after losing both of their commitments at this position earlier in the season. Stoops may also look to add another transfer to add depth to right tackle, a position that really struggled this past season. While the job is not yet finished, Kentucky is off to a great start and the Big Blue Nation has a lot to look forward to.
