Tennessee Fans Claim John Fulkerson “Owns” Kentucky Basketball

With the rivalry game back in Lexington this past Saturday, of course Twitter fans have trash talked over a 40 minute game for the last month. There have been a lot of arguments ranging from Barnes vs. Calipari, to the all time series record, to who should have ownership over Dollywood.

Tennessee fans have found a narrative that they believe to be factual, when in reality, it’s the exact opposite. John Fulkerson has played at Tennessee since MTV still played music videos and he is very annoying with his flops. However, rightfully so, Tennessee fans love the guy and think very highly of his game. So much that it has led to Vols Twitter claiming that Fulky “owns” Kentucky basketball.

I put on my Mike Beard cap and did a little further research on this hot topic and the numbers, that honestly even shocked me when I found out how underwhelming Fulkerson has played throughout his career against Kentucky. We all remember the game that he caught fire and scored 27, it was a heck of a performance and I’d have to be a mad man to knock it. However, outside of that game, Fulkerson’s numbers haven’t really stood out at all and he actually, more often than not, scores 0 points against Kentucky.

Lets take a look at the nine games that John Fulkerson has competed against Kentucky at his time in Tennessee.

I'm not the smartest guy in either fanbase, but can you own another basketball program if you've scored zero points in five of the nine games you've played in? Seriously though, these numbers shocked me because I remember Fulkerson as a guy that always lights up our team but the numbers are a bit underwhelming, outside of a couple games.

Fulkerson will have a shot to redeem himself as Kentucky basketball will travel to Knoxville to play Tennesee again on February 15th.
