The KHSAA Sweet Sixteen Bracket Has Been Set

All roads lead to Rupp around this time of the year. The last few days have been nothing but chaotic and full of excitement (for some) as the entire state has held their Region Tournaments, and crowned their winners.

Sixteen regions, 16 champions. From Fulton to Pikeville, all the way up to Covington, only the strong have survived as they last sixteen standing get ready to take on the 2022 KHSAA Sweet Sixteen in Lexington.

Recapping the Region Tournaments, here are your winners.

2022 Region Champions

1st Region: Murray (25-6)

2nd Region: Lyon County (28-6)

3rd Region: Muhlenberg County (17-11)

4th Region: Warren Central (25-3)

5th Region: John Hardin (25-9)

6th Region: Jeffersontown (23-8)

7th Region: Male (27-5)

8th Region: North Oldham (17-12)

9th Region: Covington Catholic (27-4)

10th Region: George Rogers Clark (32-1)

11th Region: Henry Clay (26-8)

12th Region: Lincoln County (28-7)

13th Region: North Laurel (27-5)

14th Region: Perry County Central (28-4)

15th Region: Pikeville (30-2)

16th Region: Ashland Blazer (25-5)

For anyone keeping count, the best team record coming into the State Tournament is George Rogers Clark at 32-1, and the worst record is North Oldham at 17-12.

The Sweet Sixteen games will first tip-off starting March 16th, with the State Championship game taking place on March 19th.

You can purchase your tickets here if you plan on attending. The KHSAA board has put outa reminder that ticketing will all be held electronically for this years tournament. When you create your ticket order, you will be asked for email and cell phone information. The email will be your key to managing your tickets. The texting will be limited to information surrounding the tournament and you will not be sent any unrelated messages.

Both the Boys’ and Girls’ tournaments will operate on the same schedule. First-round games will begin on Wednesday of each week, with the semifinals and finals on Saturday. The schedule of games will be 11:00 and 1:30 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 6:00 and 8:30 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 11:00 and 1:30 on Saturday morning, and 7:00 on Saturday night.

KHSAA says there will be no attendance restrictions and no requirements relative to mask-wearing, however, it will remain "recommended."
