Tomiwa Durojaiye Enters The Transfer Portal

Kentucky has their 16th departure of the offseason this morning in defensive lineman, Tomiwa Durojaiye. "I have officially entered the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility left," said the redshirt freshman in a social media post.

As a mid-year enrollee in January of 2022, Durojaiye only played in three games this past year, coming against Miami (Ohio), Youngstown State, and Iowa in the bowl game.

Former three-star and Delaware 3A Defensive Player of the Year as senior, he appeared to have what it took to potentially have a role here under Anwar Stewart and Brad White. While I don't have any information as to why things didn't click immediately here, I'm not completely sure. Could just be the sport's systematic procedure where guys just don't play immediately at most places in their respective positions, having to play behind the guys in front of you and wait your time, or maybe he is looking elsewhere for immediate playing time. Or maybe even he just was not the guy they were expecting him to be. I truly do not know. There isn't a whole lot of info surrounding him in his limited time here so all that is me just speculating. Usually when players leave Kentucky and the SEC, they wind up at a smaller conference to get a better feel for the collegiate level. I'd say that is likely the case here.

If it didn't work here, that is okay, and he surely won't be the last to have to deal with that in this program. No matter what it may be, I was happy when he was signed and I'll be just as a happy for him wherever he lands.
