Something about this years Media Day felt a little different. I don't know if it was just that football was finally back, or if it was something in the water during the press room, but words cannot full express how excited I am about this upcoming football season. Kroger Field looked as good as ever, the players were all decked out in their jerseys, anxious from the jump that this season in less than thirty days away.
Fan Day and the football teams first practice starts tomorrow, and we'll finally see a glimpse of this team in action, and know more of what to expect for when they kick-off against Louisiana Monroe.
Mark Stoops spoke with the media Friday afternoon, setting the excitement for all of the media and fans watching. He seemed as confident as ever, and said that this roster was the "most talented top to bottom" than any other team he's had in his nine years here. With the talent that came from the transfer portal this spring, and locking up a majority of the in-state talent by keeping them home in a Wildcat jersey, this team is forming to be very special this fall.
"We're excited. I know everybody says that this time of year. I've probably said that for nine straight years, but that's the truth. I think this time of year you get through the spring, you get through the summer, the players are working exceptionally hard. We have changes, and the anticipation builds up. I'm as excited this year, as excited to get going right now as I was in year one. I feel really good about this team. I love our coaching staff. I feel like we're in a really good place." said Coach Stoops.
