WBB: Rhyne Howard Declares for WNBA Draft

With her senior season and Kentucky career now in the rear view window, Rhyne Howard made her decision to declare for the WNBA Draft finally official.

Howard made her decision with a heartfelt note to the Big Blue Nation in which she relived her past four years wearing the blue and white. She had many thank you’s to hand out as she singled out her coaches, teammates, mother, Blair Green, and the BBN.


She leaves Lexington with her name edged in Kentucky basketball history for rest of time. She moved to second on the all-time scoring list in Kentucky women’s history. Not only that, she exceeded the 2,000 point mark this season. Although her masterful offensive numbers are what gets the most attention, Howard was an all-around balanced player with elite skills at multiple face of the game. Experts around the country recognize this, which is why she is expected to be a top pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft.


It’s hard to imagine where the Wildcats would have been without Howard this season. Despite all the ups and downs that this team endured, she was the epitome of consistency. The WNBA franchise that is smart enough to select her will have a future star on their hands.
