Dekel Crowdus Enters Transfer Portal

With the regular season over, we’re heading straight into #PortalSzn. The way college football (and basketball) is now, the news never ends as the seasons are essentially 12 months a year. With that being said, the Kentucky Wildcats have started their roster turnover as they prep for the bowl game and the offseason that follows after.

Today on social media, wide receiver Dekel Crowdus announced that he would enter his name into the portal and look for a home elsewhere.

“Thank you BBN and to my coaches for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my journey. Your mentorship has been invaluable, shaping me both as an athlete and as an individual. Special thanks to Ms. Lisa for being a constant source of motivation. With that being said, I will enter my name into the transfer portal with two years of eligible left remaining.”

The former Frederick Douglass star came into the program as a top-three player from the state of Kentucky with high hopes of continuing the new (at that time) style of offense that Liam Coen had brought with his coaching package, consisting of getting air under the ball and creating a passing offense. Although, unfortunately he would suffer a knee injury that summer and would redshirt his freshman year in 2021.

The following season, he would total in 10 games of action earning four career catches for 82 yards. In 2023, he did not see the field at all. Mostly hidden behind receivers in front of him with high expectations, I don’t think he got much of a shot this round which is likely while he is looking for a home with more playing time. The receivers that he was behind in the rotation to will be here next year as well, so I don’t blame him one bit for leaving.

This won’t be the last exit from the program, so stay tuned as things are fixing to ramp up for the nearing offseason moves.
