Kentucky Football Offers Legacy Recruit Chase Couch

Updated: Jan 21, 2023

One thing that Coach Mark Stoops has done at Kentucky is to make sure that he honors the legacy of the players who wore the blue and white in the past. He has done this in many ways, including offering legacy recruits. This is the case again as Lexington (Ky.) Christian Academy junior Chase Couch announced via his social media that Kentucky has offered him a scholarship.

Chase Couch is the son of record-setting former Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch. The elder Couch played for the Wildcats from 1996 to 1998. He was the first overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, due in large part to Hal Mumme and Mike Leach running the Air Raid in Couch's two years under their system.

Chase Couch is not following in his father's footsteps at quarterback. He is an unranked, but fast rising, edge player for LCA. He is 6'5" and 240 pounds, since adding more muscle at LCA. He has an offer from EKU and Louisville and Western Kentucky have been to see him multiple times.

It will be interesting to see how quickly Chase Couch moves up the rankings, since he will be in front of more scouts next season. Couch is the teammate of highly sought after quarterback Cutter Boley. Can Vince Marrow will pull a double Yahtzee from LCA? Time will certainly tell.
