Teonni Key Transfers To Kentucky

After an already productive weekend for Kenny Brooks and the women's basketball staff, they’ve decided to keep the momentum going into the early part of this week as well. Just announced on social media, Brooks has received another commitment today coming from UNC transfer Teonni Key.

Teonni Key announced her decision to transfer to the University of Kentucky just moments ago online.

“Let’s get it BBN!” said Key in her announcement.

Teonni Key is from Cary, North Carolina and is a prospect from Cary High School. She is a part of the 2021 class and was amongst the top-10 in the rankings at number nine overall. There was an unfortunate turn of events that would sideline Teonni for the 2021-22 season as she suffered an ACL injury in the preseason scrimmage game.

Key returned to play in the 2022-23 season as a redshirt freshman and found her way on the court for twenty-eight games but with only one start. She managed to average 2.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in about 10 minutes of playing time per game. This past season for her was very similar as she averaged about 9.4 minutes a game with a production of 2.7 points and 2.5 rebounds a game throughout twenty-three total games played.

The North Carolina native has to love being able to play in her home state but when she originally committed to UNC she also held offers from a lot of other notable schools such as UConn, Maryland, Mississippi State, NC State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky, with many more options not mentioned.

She’ll have two more seasons of eligibility left under Coach Brooks and now that her collegiate career has brought her to Kentucky we can just hope she will be able to stay healthy and show off her talents like I’m sure she dreams of one day doing.
