WBB: Ladies Take On #5 Vols

After the men took care of the Volunteers yesterday, the ladies look to do the same today. Although it will be a little more difficult, the ladies travel to Tennessee where they face a Volunteers team riding a 7-game winning streak and ranked #5 in the country. The Lady Vols are 16-1 and just about as consistent as a team can get in college basketball. This might be the best defensive team UK has faced. The Lady Vols hold their opponents to 29.9% from the field this season while they shoot 42.5%. Even with a bad shooting night the Lady Vols give themselves a chance because of their consistent, hounding defense.

The 6'2" junior, Jordan Horston leads the team with 15.5 ppg and 9.9 rpg. She has recorded a double-double in her last three games. Her counterpart, Tamari Key, has size that will be difficult for the smaller UK posts to deal with. Her 6'6" frame will tower over anyone that UK decides to put on her. Look for Key to try and establish herself early in the contest.

Kentucky has had a week off since their game Tuesday was postponed. Since conference play, UK hasn’t been able to really find a rhythm due to so many games being cancelled. A win today can give them a spark they need to push for March without any Covid hiccups, hopefully.

Tune in 3:00 EST. on ESPN to cheer on the ladies!
