Amiya Jenkins Named KY Miss Basketball

Kentucky sure is getting a good one in Amiya Jenkins. In fact, they're getting the best one - that is, across the state of Kentucky. UK women's basketball signee, Amiya Jenkins, has been named Miss Kentucky Basketball from the class of 2022 on Sunday night.


She becomes just the 11th Wildcat to have won the award. Other notable names to do so include Maci Morris (2015 honoree), Makayla Epps (2013 honoree), Sarah Beth Barnette (2020 honoree), A’dia Mathies (2009 honoree), Rebecca Gray (2007 honoree), Carly Ormerod (2005 honoree), Becky Miller (1992 honoree), Kris Miller (1986 honoree), Lisa Collins (1980 honoree) and Geri Grigsby (1977 honoree).

The four-star guard from Anderson County High School (Lawrenceburg), led her team to a 30-5 record this season. Ranked 94th in the country by ESPN, she was also named the MaxPreps Kentucky Player of the Year in 2021.

The 5’10 star averaged 20.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 2.9 assists per game as a senior. She shot 53 percent from the field, 45 percent from 3 and 73 percent from the free-throw line as a dominant offensive threat for the Bearcats.

As a junior, she averaged 17.2 points per game across 28 games. As a sophomore, an impressive 15.2 points through 36 outings.


She finished her high school career with 2,212 points, 739 rebounds and led Anderson County to three straight KHSAA Eighth Region championships.
