Kentucky Baseball Moving Up In The Rankings

The future looks bright for Kentucky Baseball as the "Bat Cats" continue to move in the right direction in the DI Baseball rankings. The Wildcats made a big jump in the standings this week as they skyrocketed from twenty-fourth to seventeenth overall. The main reason for Kentucky's big jump in the standings is due to their excellent performance this week on the road as they swept the top-25 rated Ole Miss Rebels.

Kentucky didn't just sweep the Rebels but it was in pretty much dominant type of fashion as they outscored Ole Miss 37-13 this past weekend. The Bat Cats are now on a five-game win streak and have won twelve out of their last thirteen games with their last loss coming at the hands of Missouri (1-2) back on March 23rd in Colombia.

Kentucky has an overall record currently of 24-4 and is 8-1 in conference play which is good enough for first place in the SEC East, tying first placed Arkansas in the SEC West who are 8-1 as well with a 23-3 record on the season.

This team has a chance - if they take care of business this week - to continue moving up the rankings as they host in-state rival Louisville tomorrow night at Kentucky Proud Park at 7:00 pm EST. Then in the following weekend Kentucky plays host to No. 13 Alabama as they have a triple-header this weekend starting Friday.

Like I've said, it is exciting times for Kentucky Baseball. If the weather permits I encourage you to pack Kentucky Proud Park on Tuesday night in support of these young men. Also, the first 1,000 fans who show up will receive a pair of "viper" style sunglasses for attending. There are tickets available for as low as $10. You cannot beat that! However, if you can't make it tomorrow night there are also some incentives to come this weekend which include posters and aluminum cup giveaways, so if you are looking for an excuse to get out of the house this might be it.
