Midseason Awards For Two Wildcats

A pair of Wildcats have done enough to receive some midseason awards. It was announced today that Kentucky Freshman wide receiver Barion Brown and freshman defensive lineman Deone Walker have been added to the On3 Midseason True Freshman All-American Team.

Barion Brown's resume includes seventeen caught passes for 288 yards receiving and two touchdowns. This averages out to be right at seventeen yards per reception. Brown isn't just limited to receiving, as he is one of college football's best kickoff returners, as well. Brown has returned six kickoff returns for a combined 286 yards and one touchdown, which averages to be approximately 47 yards per return, which is the best in the nation for any player with five or more returns.

Deone Walker is also one of the several true freshmen for the Kentucky Wildcats that is making a huge impact for the Cats in the first half of the 2022 season. Walker, who comes in at 6'6" and 330 pounds, has proven to be a disruptive force among the interior defensive line. Walker has played a combined 218 snaps for Kentucky in the first six games of the season and has managed to record sixteen tackles and eleven pressures.

You can also make a case that true freshman Dane Key also deserves a spot on this list. Dane has nineteen receptions for a combined 291 yards and three touchdowns. That is an average of over fifteen yards per catch. Kentucky has some very special young talent and it will be exciting to see them grow and develop as they continue to get more repetitions.
